Happy Release Day!

Happy Release Day to Kylie Scott - her second book, SKIN, hit virtual shelves today!

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at this book about a month ago and what a pleasure it was to read it - phewwwww-eeeeee, I loved it as much as I loved FLESH!

Here's what I said about it:
Dark, intense and confronting, SKIN not only pushes the boundaries of her characters but readers as well. Scott took me on an emotional roller coaster ride that was sometimes confronting, most certainly thought-provoking, yet ultimately satisfying.

The action is fast-paced and gruesome, the romance compelling and intense. Nick and Rosalyn struggle and deal with the very realistic issues of loneliness and intimacy, redemption and survival in a world where the rules of civilisation no longer exist.

SKIN is a page-turner and you won't be able to put this book down.
Six months since the zombie plague struck, former librarian Roslyn Stewart has been holed up in a school with eight other survivors. But now the shelves in the school canteen are bare. The stranger at the gate has supplies that will ensure the group’s ongoing survival, but at a cost. He wants a woman.

Nick is a man with a plan. He’ll treat Roslyn like a Queen, devoting the rest of his life to protecting and providing for her. In exchange, of course, for sexual favours. It’s the deal of the century given the state of the world. But Roslyn doesn’t see it that way. The first chance she gets she attacks the ex-army man and attempts to escape, forcing Nick to contain her. And so begins his awkward courtship of the woman, with her chained to the bed for security reasons.

Chained like a dog and forced to spend her every waking moment with a creep, albeit a good looking one, Ros is determined to escape. When circumstances force them to band together against a common enemy their very survival depends on their ability to learn to trust each other. An uneasy partnership develops, but can a relationship with such a difficult beginning ever have a future?

The hotly anticipated sequel to Flesh, Skin is set in the same universe with a different set of characters.

Her sci-fi romance, Dragonfly, is out with Momentum (Pan Macmillan Australia) today as well!!!

Carrie Thatcher is a tough Imperial counter-terrorism agent. Her mission: pose as a sexy cyber-thief to entrap the notorious rebel Dragonfly, who’s planning a heist on the space station Casa de Esperanza – an orbital casino on the fringe of Imperial space.
And this assignment’s personal: Dragonfly murdered her closest friend, and she’s in no mood to show him mercy. Even getting stuck with the partner from hell—Malachite, her sociopathic ex-lover and the Empire’s most dangerous agent—can’t dampen her relish for the kill.
With Carrie’s expert weapons skills and penchant for cracking codes, insinuating herself into Dragonfly’s confidence should be easy. But is he the ruthless killer she was led to believe? Or has her precious Empire deceived her? With Malachite watching her every move, the slightest flinch in loyalty means death.
Carrie is soon racing to uncover an audacious treachery that will shock the Empire to its core … if she can stay alive for long enough to expose it.

Today's the day!

Happy Release Day,
VENGEANCE BORN!

There is no mercy in the demon realm. No escape. In this place of desperation and conflict, anyone who is not pure bred is virtually powerless. Until an unlikely champion is born…

Annika, half-blood daughter of the Na’Reish King, longs for more than her tormented life among her father’s people. Conceived in hatred and bred as a tool of retribution, she’s gifted with a special talent that can heal as well as destroy.

With the Na’Reish vastly outnumbering them, Kalan, a Light Blade warrior, knows the future of humankind depends on him alone. Incursions into human territory and raids for blood-slaves by the Na’Reish Horde have increased. As Chosen-leader, he faces the task of stopping the demons—and convincing the Council of aging Light Blade warriors that change is necessary for survival.

When Annika learns Kalan is a prisoner in her father’s dungeon, her dream of escape seems within reach. She agrees to free him in exchange for his protection once they reach human territory. Now, marked for death for helping him, Annika must learn to trust Kalan as they face not only the perilous journey
to the border but enemies within the Council—and discover a shocking truth that could throw the human race into civil war…

VENGEANCE BORN countdown...

Nearly PARTY TIME!!!

1 day to go...

“Where is she?” Kalan hissed.

A malicious smile curved Davyn’s mouth. “By the time you find her, it’ll be too late. You’ll realize just what sort of animal you’ve given sanctuary to, Chosen.” Fantaticism crazed his gaze. “You’ll see she’s just like the Na’Reish.”

VENGEANCE BORN countdown...

2 days to go...

“I said I’d answer your questions.” With a trembling hand, Annika gently closed the book and pushed it away from her. “I don’t keep a journal, Councilor Candra, because I don’t know your letters and words. I was never allowed to learn them.”

Davyn grunted loudly. “Illiterate and a liar.”

VENGEANCE BORN Countdown

3 days to go...

“So, do you always perch on balcony ledges?”

“Not always.” Annika shot Kalan a sideways glance. The pale mauve sky silhouetted his strong profile. “Usually I sit on the pitch of a roof.”

VENGEANCE BORN Countdown

4 days to go...

Was he insane? She was half human, half demon, the antithesis of everything he believed in.

The knowledge tore through Kalan, sent a wave of unease prickling along his skin. He pressed his lips shut and shook his head. To admit to anything would change the way things were between them.

The way things should be between them.

VENGEANCE BORN Countdown

5 days to go...

Both Maren and the other man hauled Annika back toward the wall of the all-weather cabin and slammed her against it. The impact drove the breath from her lungs.

“I noticed you favoring this arm earlier,” Maren hissed. His fingers dug into her shoulder. Pain shot through it, numbing every muscle along the length of her arm. “How many Patrols track you?”

“I don’t know.”

He scolded her with a tongue clucking noise. “Wrong answer, Na’Chi.”

VENGEANCE BORN Countdown

6 days to go...

A howl shattered the quiet of the forest.

“Vorc!”

The word sent a cold shiver skittering down his spine. The predatory animals were used by the Na’Reish to hunt humans. It was how he’d been capture.

Had his absence from the Pit already been discovered? The snapping and cracking of branches sounded in the distance. Something large and heavy was racing toward them. Annika’s hand squeezed his.

“They’ve scented us.” In the moonlight, her face was pinched with fear, the flecks in her eyes glowed yellow. “Run!”

VENGEANCE BORN Countdown

Less than 2 weeks to go...

“That’s why you helped me escape? Why you need me with you?” The image of her latched on to him, feeding, flashed through his mind. “I’m a convenient food source?”

How many Light Blade warriors had he seen fall in battle? How many had he heard scream in agony as demon teeth ripped into their throats or wrists so they could be drained?

Nausea choked him. Too many.

Kalan dropped into a crouch, teeth bared. “Come one step closer and I will kill you.”

VENGEANCE BORN Countdown

With VENGEANCE BORN coming out next month, I thought I'd post a few snippets to whet your appetite for the big day.  :-)

Annika hated visiting the dungeons. The dank cells reeked of pain and fear as well as blood. Anyone unfortunate enough to be imprisoned here risked dying of exposure if the torture inflicted by the Na’Reish guards didn’t claim them first.

“This had better be worth it, Hesia,” she muttered and tugged the skirts of her dress away from slime-covered walls. (VENGEANCE BORN Ch.1 - opening lines)
